Creating a Podcast on Substack
Interviewing an elder about the significance of the 2024 Presidential Election
Next week, you will have the week off to interview an elder about the 2024 Presidential Election and to turn that interview into a 10 minute podcast.
Making a podcast on Substack is super easy. Here are the Substack directions on how to make a podcast. (You are required to upload a pdf of the transcript of your podcast. As the directions show, this is automatically generated by Substack.)
You can also watch this YouTube video on how to make a podcast on Subtack.
While Substack has an easy way to record a podcast, Substack does not allow you to edit. You need an editing tool to create the 10-minute podcast from your interview.
I record and edit on Riverside. Riverside also automatically generates a transcript. To edit, you simply cut the transcript. Then you have the clips for your podcast. Here are the directions from Riverside on editing.
You can also watch this YouTube video on how to edit with Riverside.
If you use another platform for creating a podcast, no problem at all.
You can also find free music to add to your podcast, though I will not be requiring that.
Questions for the Interview
Here are some questions, I would ask in an interview on this topic:
What is the first election you remember? Tell me about that.
What is the first election you voted in? Tell me more about that.
How important is your right to vote to you?
What does voting mean to you?
Can you imagine not having a vote? What would that feel like for you?
In a way we can all look back to not having a right to vote, before we turned 18 and could register. Do you remember anything about that?
What do you know about the history of the vote in the US?
What do you think about this election?
What are other questions you might ask?
